Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Ingredients

  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 12 oz whipped cream
  • 6 oz strawberry jello
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 20 oz sliced strawberries, fresh or frozen

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400º.
  2. Crush pretzels using a food processor.
  3. In a medium bowl, add pretzels, melted butter and 1/4 sugar until combined.
  4. Press mixture into a 9″ x 13″ baking dish and bake for 6 minutes.
  5. While crust is cooling, combine cream cheese and granulated sugar and mix until smooth. Add whipped cream, and continue to mix until well combined.
  6. Spread cream cheese mixture over cooled crust, making sure to fully cover entire surface.
  7. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil, turn off heat and add strawberry jello. Stir until jello is completely dissolved.
  8. Add strawberries to jello and let it come to room temperature.
  9. Very carefully, pour strawberry mixture over cream cheese layer.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, until jello is congealed.
